Single Hung: A traditional style where the bottom sash slides vertically to open, while the top sash remains fixed. Great for rooms facing walkways or patios where outward opening isn’t practical.
Single Slider: One sash slides horizontally over the other, with the option to choose either the left or right panel as the operable side. A space-saving, user-friendly choice for bedrooms or living areas.
Casement Windows: Hinged on one side and cranking outward like a door, casement windows provide excellent ventilation and a tight seal when closed. Available in select sizes and configurations within the A250 line.
Picture Windows: Fixed windows that don’t open, designed to frame your view and maximize natural light. Perfect for large walls, high ceilings or rooms where airflow isn’t needed.
Awning Windows: Hinged at the top and opening outward from the bottom, awning windows can be left open slightly during light rain. Often used in combination with picture windows or in bathrooms for privacy and airflow.

Milgard’s A250 Thermally Improved Aluminum series offers the thinnest frame profile out of the Milgard lineup, and a clean, contemporary look that vinyl and fiberglass can’t match. However, vinyl (like the V300 or V400) and fiberglass (like the C650 Ultra) are more insulating and tend to perform better in terms of energy efficiency.
A250 is typically chosen for its style and strength, not its thermal performance.
Milgard’s Lifetime Limited Warranty covers mainframe parts for as long as the original purchaser owns the home, along with a 20-year warranty on the insulated glass unit and components, and 10 years of coverage for labor and shipping costs.
That said, there are a few details worth noting:
- Warranty coverage begins from the manufacturing date, not the date of purchase or installation
- Cosmetic labor (like replacing a sash or lock) is not included
- Stress cracks are only covered for one year
- Finish warranties vary by color and material
- The warranty is not fully transferable, but the next homeowner receives a 10-year parts-only warranty
