Milgard’s Lifetime Limited Warranty for the Ultra™ Series covers key components and gives Arizona homeowners real peace of mind:
- Lifetime for the mainframe; 20 years for IGU (glass unit) and components for as long as the original owner owns the home, or for ten years from the date of manufacture for subsequent owners
- Labor and shipping are covered for ten years from the date of manufacture, excluding minor repairs that require non-skilled labor
- Painted and capstock frames are warranted for 10 years against excessive peeling, cracking, fading, or chalking
- IGUs with laminated or impact glass are covered for 5 years, instead of 20
- Stress cracks in the glass, insect screens and weatherstripping are covered for one year
- Accidental glass breakage is not included with Ultra (only with Trinsic/Tuscany)

Milgard Ultra fiberglass windows and doors come with a Lifetime Limited Warranty for original owners of owner-occupied homes. That includes:
- Mainframe parts for the lifetime of the product
- Insulated glass units (IGUs) and internal components for 20 years from the date of manufacture
- Labor and shipping for 10 years (within Milgard’s service territory)
- Painted fiberglass frames for 10 years against peeling, cracking, fading, etc.
- Shorter coverage for items like screens, hardware finishes, weatherstripping and stress cracks
Unlike some other Milgard products, Ultra does not include accidental glass breakage coverage. The warranty is transferable, with a 10-year parts and labor warranty for subsequent homeowners, beginning on the date of manufacture.
Milgard Ultra outperforms vinyl products in terms of structural strength, energy efficiency and temperature resistance — especially in extreme climates like ours in the Phoenix Metropolitan area. While Trinsic and Tuscany are excellent vinyl options, fiberglass resists UV damage better and expands less in heat, maintaining a tighter seal over time.

If you’re looking for premium performance and durability, Ultra is the clear winner. But for budget-conscious homeowners or those prioritizing frame color options, Tuscany or Trinsic might be a better fit.
Andersen’s Fibrex® composite and Pella’s Impervia® fiberglass lines are both strong competitors. However, Milgard Ultra is a true fiberglass window, offering excellent thermal stability, strength and durability that’s very hard to compete with — especially in extreme climates like Arizona. It competes directly with Pella’s Impervia®, which is also a fiberglass product that’s considered higher end. It’s also often compared to Andersen’s Fibrex®, which is a slightly less-expensive composite made from wood fibers and thermoplastic polymers.
- Milgard Ultra vs. Pella Impervia: Both are fiberglass frames, so if interested in both, comparing the actual ratings might be worthwhile. Milgard tends to be more affordable versus the high-end Pella product, although that happens to be one of our favorites.
- Milgard Ultra vs. Andersen Fibrex® (100 Series): Fibrex isn’t fiberglass — it’s a composite with some similar performance traits, but not a direct comparison. Andersen has more hardware and grille customization options and a strong brand reputation, often at a lower price point, but Milgard Ultra often outperforms Fibrex in heat resistance and structural rigidity, with a thinner frame.

That depends on your priorities. Compared to vinyl or aluminum, fiberglass offers:

Milgard does not recommend painting Ultra windows yourself. The factory-applied exterior finish is engineered for durability and tested to resist chalking, fading, and peeling for up to 10 years. Painting over this finish can void parts of your warranty.
If color customization is important, it’s best to choose from Milgard’s existing palette of durable factory-applied exterior coatings.
Most homeowners do not choose to mix Milgard product lines, but it’s possible if a homeowner wants to meet specific budget, location or style preferences. For example, you might use Ultra fiberglass windows in sun-exposed areas for better durability, paired with Tuscany or Trinsic vinyl windows in shaded areas to save on cost.
